The Best Skincare Routine to Follow in Your 30s

The Best Skincare Routine to Follow in Your 30s

Skin in our 30s still looks young but it's less resistant to unsuitable skin-care products, make-up residue or sleepless nights. Even the best face cream proves insufficient. How to care for skin that needs to fight the arrival of face lines? Let's get down to the serious and decent skin-care routine that we all deserve. We tell you how to delay the aging process and keep the 20-year-old's youth.

What is skin like in your 30s?

Skin in your 30s is aging but your face isn't giving that away yet. Sadly, the process is inevitable because the level of collagen in the skin drops, and so does the level of estrogen. How does that affect the complexion? It's been proven that the skin of 30-year-olds:

  • loses elasticity.
  • doesn’t bounce back easily.
  • is no longer resistant to the external aggressors.
  • gradually loses healthy shine, vitality and hydration.

A gradual drop of estrogen causes the skin to slow down the production of collagen and elastin which are two fibers that prevent skin sagging and keep it in perfect condition. Consequently, the plumpness and tightness of skin worsen with age.

The skin in your 30s loses its ability to repair the cells. The skin cell renewal is slower year by year. In turn, wrinkles appear, skin takes longer to heal, the face is not as plump as it was just a few years ago. To make things worse, the skin loses hydration fast because its protective layer gets weaker.

Must-know: how to take care of skin in your 30s?

1. SKINCARE IN YOUR 30s. FIRST STEP: MAKE-UP REMOVAL

Taking make-up off thoroughly is of paramount importance. Make-up residue is a source of face lines! It speeds up aging through disturbing the repair process, attracting impurities and triggering oxidative stress. Make-up makes it harder for the skin to remove dead cells. Try to find the best make-up remover and always make sure your face is clear of make-up before bedtime.

2. SKINCARE IN YOUR 30s. SECOND STEP: CLEANSING

Cleansing is a basic step regardless of our age. Clear skin free from dirt and dead cells is easier to repair and more absorbent. Simply put, nutrients from skin-care products work better and give a more intensive effect. Start a day with a mild face foam cleanser rich in soothing ingredients and vitamins. Use a scrub at least once a week, matching it to your skin type. Remember to use the foam after removing make-up in the evening as well.

3. SKINCARE IN YOUR 30s. THIRD STEP: TONER

A face toner makes your skin sigh with relief. It soothes irritations and calms the skin as well as balances the pH, bringing back the ideal acidic pH. A toner for skin in your 30s should be packed with nutrients. You can replace it with a flower water but make sure it's rich in antioxidants. Rose water or lavender water are ideal.

4. SKINCARE IN YOUR 30s. FOURTH STEP: GOOD SERUM BEFORE FACE CREAM

Do you know that a face serum is your priority skin-care product when you turn 30? Choose it wisely, make sure it's right for your age as well as skin type and its needs. Even reactive skin makes use of a face serum. Use hyaluronic acid serum in the morning and choose a more advanced serum for the night to delay the aging process: make sure it is enriched with vitamin C and E, collagen or coenzyme Q10.

5. SKINCARE IN YOUR 30s. FIFTH STEP: HYDRATING, NOURISHING, PROTECTION

Over time the skin's protective functions are weaker while the lipid layer is damaged so the skin loses water fast. A lower level of hydration means wrinkles coming fast. That is why it's essential to control the level of lipids and hydration, and prevent the loss of water. Hyaluronic acid is crucial. To maintain its sufficient amount in the skin, don't let it evaporate. Use creams that prevent TEWL (transepidermal water loss).

Your face cream should be packed with emollients because they form the skin's protective lipid mantle. Get a cream rich in oils or add a drop of natural oil you like (e.g. jojoba oil or argan oil) to your cream right before application. Other examples of emollient substances include mineral oils, silicones and waxes.

A good cream to use in your 30s should be also rich in substances that stimulate production of collagen and elastin. What's important, you can't leave your skin without UV protection! Your day cream must be rich in high factor SPF, ideally 30 SPF.

6. SKINCARE IN YOUR 30s. SIXTH STEP: GOOD EYE CREAM

An eye cream isn't essential in your 20s but it becomes a must-have once you turn 30. Delicate under-eye skin ages the fastest so you need to help it: a good eye cream plumps skin up, delays wrinkles and eliminates puffiness and dark circles. The perfect ingredients in eye cream are, among others, caffeine, caviar, coffee butter, coenzyme Q10, vitamin E, cucumber extract, green and white tea extracts.

Which face serum is best to use in your 30s?

Your skin deserves a drop of quality serum every day. Choose it carefully and make sure it's high in nutrients. In the fall, add a vitamin C serum to your routine as it perfectly repairs the epidermis, brightens and gives youthful shine.

Never ditch a hyaluronic acid serum. HA is essential no matter your age. Hyaluronic acid hydrates, rejuvenates and fills intercellular spaces to keep the skin plump and super-soft.

At bedtime, you can also apply argan oil which enhances the lipid layer and delays wrinkles. Collagen serum also works great for skin in your 30s because it maintains the optimal level of collagen.

Note!
Each product you use must go with your skin type. If your skin is sensitive, reactive or you struggle with broken capillaries, you should focus on that and choose products respecting the skin's problems and needs. At the age of 30 there is a higher risk of broken capillaries and unwanted spider veins, plus redness which is hard to minimize. You can help this skin type with a good serum for couperose skin. Nanoil has something you need: Anti-Redness Face Serum contains extracts from Bugeye, Cypress and Lime Tree to soothe the skin and keep it the healthiest.
